OVERVIEW:
Elastimold® is a recognized leader in loadbreak separable connectors, splices and cable terminators. We provide you with the widest variety of superior cable accessories worldwide. Innovative engineering and manufacturing has allowed Elastimold® to sustain market leadership by responding to the needs of its customers. In 1964, Elastimold® developed the first bushing and elbow connector in response to an electric utility's need for an aesthetically pleasing residential development. Conventional overhead power line designs needed to be substituted with shielded underground cables requiring a shielded separable connector system. From this very first underground residential distribution system, Elastimold® has continued to transform the industry with its dynamic refinement of processes. Elastimold® most recently determined the root cause of a flashover phenomenon on utility loadbreak systems. To eliminate the partial vacuum root cause, the Loadbreak 2000 venting inserts were developed and introduced. Additional pioneering efforts and successes include:
- Developed the first high voltage separable connector
- Developed the first underground transmission splice
- Developed the industry's first fully rubber-insulated vacuum switch in 1996
- Developed the first rubber-insulated and rubber encapsulated medium-voltage fuse.
- Developed the first MOV bushing surge arrester
- Developed the first repair and replacement elbows
- Developed the first "I", "Y" and "H" bolted splices

Elastimold® products are used in power distribution systems throughout the world. Responsiveness to local utility distribution practices has earned Elastimold® the position as a global innovator. Products are produced and distributed through joint ventures including Euromold (Belgium), Fujimold (Japan), Taimold (Taiwan), Elastimold (Egypt), Bombay Suburban Electric LIC (India), and Pyung II LIC (Korea).
TECHNOLOGY/TESTING:
Elastimold engineers are recognized experts in the electrical-grade rubber molding design. Supported by an extensive research and testing facility dedicated to the design and qualification/testing of pre-molded cable accessories, they are able to design products to meet varying specifications around the globe. We also have a premier materials lab and high-voltage testing facility in New Jersey.

MANUFACTURING:
Elastimold® products are manufactured using injection-molding equipment. Injection molding of thermosetting rubber greatly improves control of temperature, injection pressure, cycle times, and cure rate. Manufacturing plants employ state of the art technology including microprocessor controls, multi-station molding and cryogenic deflashing. Elastimold has the facilities to custom-fit multi-station molding equipment to levels of sophistication beyond anything commercially available today. |
